promotional poster designed for the group exhibition Meet Me in (Dis)Comfort, my first curation experience of 2026. printed versions of this design were plastered around OCADU's campus, and in coffee shops across Toronto. see below for the show's statement.
(Dis)comfort is a mixed set of feelings, one often brought on by a combination of sensorial, emotional, and psychological contradictions. It’s a mountain of mattresses made of pea pods, a family reunion with unaddressed elephants, and a craving for familiar patterns despite their toxicity. Meet Me in (Dis)Comfort highlights the thin line where the two feelings meet, over and over again, through moments of grief, nostalgia, and self-reflection.
Be it through an exploration of contrasting textures or through representations of missed connections, the artists of Meet Me in (Dis)Comfort expose how two truths – sharp yet approachable, inviting yet far away, and so forth – can coexist in (un)comfortable tension.
Meet Me in (Dis)Comfort invites viewers to acknowledge uneasiness, recognize the sparks of joy that filter through it, and consider what role (dis)comfort plays when beings interact with one another.
